In 2023, our clinical research started under the auspices of the Rotterdam Eye Hospital and the Rotterdam Ophthalmological Institute.
37 children will use the Vedea method for 4 months and the results will be compared to the data of a control group that also consists of 37 children. After 4 months this control group will also follow the therapy. The study aims to demonstrate that the Vedea approach is superior to conventional patching for the treatment of amblyopia in children.

A second pivotal study is planned for 2026/2027 and aims to demonstrate significant improved visual acuity and improved binocular function 16 weeks after the start of treatment. There will be an interim analysis. If occlusion yields better results than the Vedea approach, the study will be stopped and all participants will return to usual care.
